#2221 40m Circa Marine SXV40 Explorer Motor Yacht

With a superb reputation for building tough, no-nonsense, long range explorer vessels, including LOMOcean’s Mollymawk and Deo Juvante designs, New Zealand’s Circa Marine is now looking to a future of larger, more luxurious, but no less capable motor yachts.

Dubbed the SXV40, this stunning LOMOcean designed 40m explorer motor yacht remains faithful to the ‘reliably go anywhere’ ethos, but the huge aft deck means you can now take a seriously large tender (39’ centre console shown in images) with you – and still have room for jet skis, crew tender, submersible etc.  The large tender opens up a world of new opportunities, allowing the SXV40 as a mothership that can be moored in shelter, whilst the tender is able to range wide for sportsfishing, diving, exploring, spear fishing etc, in comfort and safety.

You can also land a decent sized helicopter on that aft deck too – for owners preferring to fly in/fly out.  And when there are neither tenders, nor an aircraft, the expansive aft deck forms a large, casual beach club, with scatter furniture being used to create any combination of configurations, be it sunbathing, al fresco dining etc.  A large lazarette and separate workshop lies port and starboard respectively between the swim platform and the engine room.

Below decks, accommodation includes a big, full beam master suite, plus four large VIP cabins all serviced by a common lobby with refreshments station and suitcase stowage.

Further forward – and with separate access via the galley, crew mess and bridge – lies the crew quarters  with two single and one twin share cabin, each with ensuite ablution facilities.

The chiselled sheerline means the saloon boasts full height windows port and starboard in an open plan space comprising lounge, dining and bar.  A discreet powder room is tucked into one corner, with private entrance.  A second casual lounge on the bridgedeck opens directly to the al fresco dining area on the overhang, creating a seamless indoor/outdoor flow.  Forward of here lies the day head, helm station, ship’s office and generously sized Captain’s cabin.

The main decks feature wide side decks, allow crew to move unobtrusively around the yacht, with direct external access to the crew mess, galley, stores, laundry and from there either up to the bridge level, or down to the crew quarters.

The flying bridge – shaded by a large canopy – offers a relaxed seating area, or a secondary helm position, a Jacuzzi, wet bar and sunbeds.

With a gross tonnage of less than 500, the Circa SXV40 explorer yacht fits comfortable with less stringent rule requirements around crew certification, outfit, pilotage limits etc.

Construction is all aluminium, to Lloyds Register Special Service Craft code with a G6, unlimited offshore notation.

The yacht is powered by twin, continuously rated 746kW diesel engines, her ultra efficient hull shape achieving a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range exceeding 5000 nautical miles at 10 knots, with trans-Atlantic range possible at 12 knots.
