#1614 9.5m Line Handler
The Kim Seah 9m workboat was designed as a versatile harbour utility boat, capable of achieving moderate service speeds and intended primarily for lines handling work at oil terminals and cargo wharves.
Equipped with a 30kN rated towing post and pusher knees, plus fully protected bulwarks, the vessel has weather shelter for two crew in the forward mounted wheelhouse, plus a large working deck suitable for carrying additional personnel, materials and equipment.
Provision is made for the carrying of firefighting chemicals in underdeck tanks and the mounting of fire monitors and oil spill response equipment.
Construction is in heavy duty aluminium, designed to exceed Lloyd’s Register requirements and offering a combination of low weight and significant robustness.
The aluminium construction lends itself to the production environment, requires minimal maintenance relative to steel and offers ease of repair and assured end of life recycling capability.
The high volume hull is equipped with multiple water tight compartment and is of a form optimized for 10 knot service – somewhat higher than theoretical hull speed, but still achievable with modest horsepower and reduced fuel burn relative to market competitors.
The hull shape throws a very flat, low wake which is ideal for the harbour environment and trials indicate excellent manoeuvrability and reversing capability from the well protected single propeller and large rudder.
